Some experts predicted that 2024 would be the turning point for AI adoption in the corporate world, but the reality turned out to be more nuanced.

In your opinion, how many Canadian companies actually integrated AI into their operations last year? According to an IBM report, 61% of businesses took the leap in 2024—a notable step forward, but still not quite enough in my view.

Does this mean that about 40% of companies have yet to adopt AI? That’s a position that will quickly become untenable for any business hoping to remain competitive in a constantly evolving market. Whether your organization has already begun its transition or is still evaluating the best way to get started, this year could be decisive.

Here are my predictions for 2025 and the AI advancements that could help take your company to new heights.

1. Revolutionize your business by adopting an “AI-First” mindset

Which window is always open on your computer: Google or ChatGPT? If a generative AI tool has replaced your old search engine, that’s great news. If not, it’s time to change your habits!

In 2025, embracing an “AI-First” mindset will be essential. This means putting AI at the core of your operations and decision-making—reimagining every process, role, and customer interaction with AI built in from the start.

Don’t wait any longer. Train your teams—whether on ChatGPT, Copilot, or Gemini. These accessible tools are an excellent first step to achieving short-term gains while paving the way for a true AI-driven transformation.

2. 2025 won’t be the year of AGI

Over the past few months, you may have heard about AGI—Artificial General Intelligence. While fascinating, the concept remains largely theoretical.

An AGI would be an artificial intelligence capable of understanding, learning, and performing a wide range of intellectual tasks with the same flexibility as a human—a major technological revolution. However, such an achievement remains light-years away from reality.

While Sam Altman predicts that AGI will emerge in 2025, I believe that’s more of a publicity move to strengthen OpenAI’s position in the field.

I side with many researchers and experts who believe that creating AGI will still require decades of research and development. The challenges are immense—not only replicating the complexity of human intelligence but also ensuring that this technology is developed ethically and safely.

So, will 2025 mark the birth of AGI? Probably not. But it could still be a pivotal year for research and debate around this technology.

3. Goodbye text commands, hello conversational AI

AI interactions are entering a new era—one that feels as natural as a human conversation. Long text prompts are on their way out, replaced by intuitive dialogue seamlessly integrated into your favorite devices—even smart glasses.

Just before the holidays, OpenAI announced a new feature allowing users to talk with ChatGPT using their phone’s camera. The model can now “see” what you see and respond accordingly. But that’s not all—you can even call 1-800-ChatGPT to chat with your favorite AI assistant!

In 2025, say goodbye to long hours building client presentations. A simple voice command like, “Create a B2B product launch presentation using last year’s data,” will generate a full, polished deck—complete with AI-driven suggestions based on current market trends.

4. Smarter, more personal AI assistants

In 2025, AI-powered personal assistants will become proactive strategic partners. Far beyond simple productivity tools, these assistants will anticipate your needs, prioritize your tasks, and adjust your schedule in real time.

Imagine a virtual collaborator who organizes your meetings, writes your reports, and reshuffles your priorities as your workload changes—all without you lifting a finger. These assistants will allow you to focus on what truly matters while optimizing your time.

5. From “intelligent assistants” to multi-agent systems

AI will no longer operate in isolation but in interconnected networks of multi-agent systems. These agents will share data and responsibilities, coordinating actions in real time to solve complex problems with greater efficiency.

Picture a manufacturing company where one AI agent manages inventory, another oversees logistics, and a third optimizes energy consumption. Together, they fine-tune production lines, coordinate deliveries, and cut costs—all while reducing the company’s carbon footprint.

Only time will tell what the future truly holds.

But one thing is certain: 2025 is shaping up to be another pivotal year for AI adoption and integration in business. Remember—these predictions aren’t mere speculation; they’re concrete opportunities your company can seize today.

Here’s hoping that by 2026, nearly all Canadian businesses will have finally joined the AI revolution!
