5 great ideas for team-building events!

At Vooban, when it comes to strengthening the bonds that unite us and creating a positive atmosphere within our organization, we have more than one trick up our sleeve! You might even say it's one of our strengths. The company invests every month to ensure that each and every one of its employees feel valued, appreciated, and heard. We celebrate their contributions and foster a sense of belonging within their team. We've even made it one of our four core values: "We take care of our people."
In 2023, we organized many entertaining team-building activities with our Social Club and more stimulating ones in a professional setting. We are excited to share with you our top 5 favourite events that were the most appreciated and that resulted in unforgettable moments of sharing, laughter, and complicity!
1. An inspiring cabin retreat
Our marketing and sales teams got together for a day out in nature, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This getaway not only allowed open discussions between hierarchical levels but also enabled us to discuss our company objectives head-on and share our diverse perspectives.
But that's not all! The day wasn’t just about work-related activities; they were interspersed with more physical or cooperative ones. For example, participants were divided into teams and challenged to light a fire with just a log and three matches. Competitive spirit, races through the forest, and even mutual aid between groups were all part of the fun! Later, each of them even tried their hand at cutting a log from a tree trunk with a chainsaw! In short, it was a day where work and social interaction came together to strengthen bonds in a relaxing setting!
2. Gourmet workshops
If one thing brings people together, it's food and drink! Among our most popular activities were the happy hours, where we participated in workshops that taught us the art of cocktails (led by Expérience Cocktail), cupcakes or latte art (conducted by Nomad Soul Coffee)! Of course, participants didn't just sit and watch; they tried different techniques and tasted the delicious creations they made.
And let's not forget our famous search for the best poutine in town, which lasted for several weeks and was filled with French fries, cheese and potatoes! These experiences sparked passion among some employees and caused lots of laughter (and impromptu afternoon power naps due to digestion)!
4. Sports and adrenaline
After all that festivity, it was time to get active! Several athletic events occurred throughout the year, but some were particularly popular among the participants. These included the Vooban golf tournament, an afternoon of climbing, and even a day of go-karting! However, the gold medal was won by our Spin and Sing activity, a delightful combination of spinning and karaoke that charmed all the participants who dared to take up the challenge. Let's face it: it's hard to go wrong with karaoke!
5. The Voonimals’ gathering (Vooban+animals)
We noticed that our employees love talking about their adorable pets! After creating a Slack channel dedicated to sharing photos of our dear little pawsome treasures, we decided to take things further. Although some animals (hi, lizards and fishes!) are more challenging to move, we invited employees who owned dogs to a long walk in the woods at Plein-Air canin in Lévis. Everyone had a wonderful time introducing their furry companions and watching them play together! And do we need to point out that these moments sparked pure happiness?
5. The Voonimals’ gathering (Vooban+animals)
